2001 US Growth is No Longer Quaint

In 1999, we were still talking about
2001: The US leads the world in home Internet use, with more than 98 million people logging on from home in December 2000. The latest figures from Nielsen NetRatings show that Japan ranked second with 15 million home Internet users, followed by Germany (13 million), the UK (10 million), and Canada (9 million).

Feb 15 2001: Internet penetration in the US has now risen to 60 percent, with a total of 168 million people using the Internet in January, according to Nielsen NetRatings.
