Existing Methods
Don't Scale
Knowledge that would allow flexibility is buried in
engineering design methods, static processes designed
years ago, software code, and people's heads resulting in:
- Designs that cannot be radically changed, only tweaked,
because change effects are unknown
- Increasingly long system integration times because
integration was not done during design
- Limited suppliers with tight integration because of
expensive proprietary software
- Recalls because design interactions not discovered until
too late
New vision: pre-defined process is just a starting point:
processes are evolved as needed at runtime,
subject to
constraints.
