The Importance of Goals
- Why are AI people always going on about
goals??
Notice
that a goal can be construed as a kind of
request in a protocol.
Interesting responses are almost always
exception messages - that could not be unified
with the original request.
I.e., there is a relationship between the kind of
protocol we specify (the ACL and innner language) for an
application,
and our notions of agenthood, intelligence, autonomy, and the utility
of AI techniques, such as nonmonotonic reasoning.
