3G is Dead
The Internet didn't kill the Telephone,
but 802.11 killed 3G
(as Wireless Internet)
- 802.11b is becoming ubiquitous.
The equipment manufacturers are going
802.11.
E.g., Intel
announced 802.11 products.
3G is, in comparison, low-performance,
high-cost.
(And cell phones should be cheap.)
VOIP using 802.11 is likely to drive the next
generation of PBXs.
802.11 is only going to get cheaper, faster,
and spread wider.
But 3G will live.
What will this mean?
