My interest in design started with study in Strathclyde's department of Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management (DMEM). Experience in design studies and design practice has since continued apace with my Doctorate widening an appreciation of design through positions in North America. This has led to my present interests, believing that insight and progress can be best made in design by acheiving a balance between research and practice. My present position, in Ikerlan - a technological research centre placed between industry and academia, and within the Mondragon group of companies, research centres and universities - provides an ideal forum for this. My writing and speaking activities aim to focus on this 'space' between research and practice, particularly on the role of innovation in design. |
