Dr Steven P MacGregor, (formerly of) DMEM, University of Strathclyde

Visiting researcher, Center for Design Research, Stanford University, 2001

I was a visting researcher at the Center for Design Research during 2001, working with Larry Leifer. Industrial site visits and data collection took place at Sun Microsystems, Ideo, Microsoft and Arena Solutions with academic interviews throughout campus and trial experiments run in CDR´s Design Observatory.

The visit to Stanford was part of a wider research tour of the US and Canada which also included posts at Saul Greenberg's GroupLab research group at the University of Calgary and Eswaran Subrahmanian´s n-dim research group at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Conference attendance also take place at CSCW in Design, London Ontario and the ASME Design Engineering and Technical Conferences in Pittsburgh.

I completed my thesis in December 2002 and defended in February 2003 with Chris McMahon of Bath University as external examiner.

Cheers, Steven MacGregor
