Thin lens example
- Ray tracing technique a bit complex
Notes:
First mention why were simplifying the model (calculations)
- Even the thin lens model is a simplification (real lens system has a few internally).
- Ray tracing vs. pinhole approximation.
- Focus depends on making sure external-camera focus point is placed in the right spot to form the quadrilateral.
- Thin lens requires focal length calculation
- Internal-camera characteristics (focal point) changes for each zoom setting (glass moves).
- Underwater vision is limited anyway, so can focus for specific distances.
- In the optic path immediately in front of the CCD the key point is the verge point which stays the same (lens system compensates). That is the focal distance (this is my intuition
research to confirm).
