Strength Test Performed by Rapid Prototyping Lab

Sample preparation

ASTM Type I dogbone tensile specimens are prepared: 13.0 mm X 57.0mm narrow section of 3.2 mm thickness, with 20mm-wide grip ends and a total length of 170 mm. Two types of specimens were tested: monolithic and dual-interface. The monolithic specimens are built horizontally within a single layer of material. The dual-interface specimens are built vertically, composed of more than one layers of material. For LUC-4180, the normal sample, the sample soaked in BIOACT 280 and the sample after grit blasting on interlayer were tested. The test results indicate that the grit blasting and chemical solvent improves the tensile strength of the dual-interface specimens.
