Design Meeting - Jul 19, 1994
Attendees
Mark Cutkosky

Joe Wagner
What happened?
- It was decided that we order the
PS-9XS microvideo camera and the
ML-12MM microlens from Supercircuits catalog. It was decided that
we will first try to use beam-splitter idea with just a microvideo
camera. If the filed of view gets to be a problem, we will change the
configuration and stick the camera in the front along with the
microlens with a field of view of 18.4 degrees.
- Larry Pfeffer listed all the items that he would need to
perform single axis benchtest:
- computer: available
- motor: a test crude motor is available. Sam has placed orders for
them and they are to arrive.
- optics: Joe's optical prototype. Need a more rigid
support/packaging for lenses and PSD.
- power supplies: can borrow from MSL (manufacturing systems lab,
Stanford), but need to be ordered.
- software: Larry has to develop.
- Amps: MSL has electrocraft amps that can be borrowed for the
test; but need to be ordered.
- Encoder board: borrow from MSL; order later.
- Beacon: HP LED to be ordered.
- Larry Pfeffer mentioned that filters are needed even if we are
using modulated light source.
- Larry also mentioned that On-Trak PSD seems to be ok; is giving a
better signal than the one he used before, but noise level is also
higher. He may need to work on better biasing.
- Laser LEDs should be modulatable between 1 kHz to 10 kHz. Some
LEDs may not be, so we should order the ones that are - Larry said.
- Joe will be making some rigid support structure for optics and PSD for
the single axis test.
- It is suggested that we video tape the demo when single axis test
is ready and running.
Next Meeting
At 10:00 am on Friday, Jul 22, 1994 at CDR.
What'll be ready? - reading the encoder and optical signals.
