The Center for Design Research is centrally located on the Stanford University campus, easily accessed from both US 101 to the East and Interstate 280 to the West. To reach us:

From I-280 and Foothill Expressway

Exit I-280 at Page Mill Road East (towards the Bay). Turn left at Foothill Expressway/Junipero Serra Boulevard. Take Junipero Serra Boulevard North to the second traffic light. Turn right on Campus Drive East. At the first stop sign, Mayfield Avenue, turn left. Continue on Mayfield as the road bears to the left. For short-term parking, use the meter parking lot in the Tresidder Union.

For longer-term parking, continue on Mayfield. At Lomita Drive, turn right. At the next stop sign turn left on Santa Teresa Street. Turn at the next right, on Samuel Morris Way, then left on Panama Street. and proceed toward the parking structure. See Parking below.

From US101 and El Camino Real

Exit US101 at Oregon Expressway West (away from the Bay). Turn right (North) at El Camino Real. Take El Camino Real North to University Avenue/Palm Drive. At the overpass intersection turn left on Palm Drive. Continue on Palm Drive to Campus Drive; turn right at the stop sign. After the third stop sign turn left on Via Ortega. See Parking below.

Parking

On the corner of Via Ortega and Panama Street is a multilevel parking structure. Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM, park in a metered parking space or in designated permit parking zones with the appropriate permit; after hours and weekends, permits are not required. On foot, continue left on Panama Street toward the center of campus. After the intersection of Panama Street and Morris Way, Panama Street continues as a pedestrian/bicycle "mall". Continue straight on Panama Mall. CDR is on the right, number 424.

If you do not have a permit to park in the garage, you may park at meters near Tresidder Union. The first twenty minutes are free while you obtain a permit for longer parking. The meters on Santa Teresa opposite the Old Fire Truck House are a good bet.

The map below show the Stanford area, a closer view of campus access routes, and the location of parking areas near CDR. Additional high-resolution maps, including searchable maps, are available at the Stanford University Campus Maps site. Hint: use Center for Design Research" in the search engine, not "CDR".
